An annual review of your finances is a smart thing to do. It’s an opportunity to measure the progress you are making toward your goals and make needed adjustments based on your own personal situation. You should do a financial checkup at least once a year or with major life events such as marriage, job change, divorce, children, or starting a business.

Review your financial goals

— have you made any progress? Are they the same? Do they need to change?

Evaluate changes

— what has happened in the past year and what is about to happen in the near future?

Assess your insurance policies

— review health, life, auto, and home insurance policies — what changes are needed? Are you eligible for discounts?

Review your will/estate plan

— ensure that you have updated or modified it if your family has changed (marriage, divorce, children, etc).

Make an appointment with your Financial Advisor

to discuss rebalancing, investment performance, life changes (marriage, divorce, children, buying a property).

Evaluate/create your spending plan

— review where your money is going and reallocate if needed to get you to a 10% or more annual savings rate.

Reduce your income taxes

— this is a good time to review your taxes. Set up an appointment with your

Tax Advisor to uncover tax deductions that you might not know about.

Evaluate your retirement goals

— review your retirement plans to make sure they still align with your goals and if not, schedule an appointment to meet with your Financial Advisor to discuss.

Set up an annual meeting with the important people in your life

to discuss how the year went and how you’d like to move forward into the next year.

Get your files into shape for the coming year

— shred documents that you do not need for

longer than a year.

I agree Anna. I had investments just really sitting and not being monitored but now I have you to help with putting them together and maximizing them for me. Thank you.
